The American Bar Association (ABA) released an important three-part report that examines the challenges and opportunities available for the Dalit justice defenders’ community across South Asia. This part of the report (Part III) specifically discusses the justice sector for Dalits in India. It concludes with regional lessons learned and recommendations for policymakers, judges, bar councils, and other governmental agencies. The report utilizes desk research and structured interviews with the Dalit justice defenders’ community. Further, the report’s authors are either members of the Dalit community or have worked directly with the community to assist in issues related to the justice sector.
